Mid Sussex leads the way with Vote Cruelty Free
21st August 2009
Mid Sussex voters are among the first to have a cruelty free choice at the next election. A majority of candidates in the constituency have pledged their support for Vote Cruelty Free, a new non-partisan coalition of animal protection organisations working to put animals on the political agenda.
Candidates David Boot (Labour) and Paul Brown (Green Party) are joining BUAV, Compassion in World Farming, International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), League Against Cruel Sports and Respect for Animals to help ensure positive change for animals.
A Vote Cruelty Free Spokesperson said, “Animal issues are often overlooked at election time, but we know they are important for many voters. It’s great that constituents in Mid Sussex have a genuinely cruelty free choice when casting their vote. We urge all other candidates to give their constituents across the UK this opportunity.
Vote Cruelty Free covers a broad range of animal welfare issues including the wildlife trade, animal experimentation, cruel sports, the fur trade and farming.
The campaign is urging all candidates to pledge their support for the initiative. Voters can track candidates who have signed up by visiting www.votecrueltyfree.org
